Hyun Bin for Samsung SmartTV CF

For those who are clueless what CF's mean, I wiki-ed it for you. It stands for Commercial Film. CF's are especially popular and viral in South Korea.

Hyun Bin (My Name is Kim Sam Soon) clearly is today's most bankable actor. His successful drama, Secret Garden helped him land a lot of CF's left and right. Big brand names in Korea sign him as ambassador notwithstanding his upcoming military service in March. We won't be seeing much of him for another two years!

He was adorable on My Name is Kim Sam Soon, really fun but I love him more on Secret Garden where he plays a rich department store chaebol who falls for a stuntwoman played by Ha Ji Won (Memories of Bali). If you think the usual i-love-you-to-death-despite-the-social-difference-it's-you-and-me-against-the-world, think again. The drama has another take. It is such a breath of fresh air. NO CHEESY MOMENTS. Less and less on that. More on witty lines and a unique plot. The best plot on rich man falls for commoner girl plots Koreans love so much. Every episode was entertaining. The kind of drama that does not revolve around the lives of the leads but also interjects those of the supporting characters. It's even the first I watched without the usual love triangles/squares yet had enough conflict to get you watching for more.

Now that's it ended, all we see are commercials of the characters we can't get enough of. Hyun Bin is the new face of Samsung's SmartTV. Samsung's 3D TV. Hyun Bin shot not only one but two version's of the CF.

2ne1 Yamaha Fiore Ad

2ne1 equals a major splash of colors and addictive songs. Their latest album did not only have one but lots. Like this song for Yamaha Fiore's CF entitled, Don't Stop The Music. True to its title, I pressed play several times as I wrote my report due Monday.

Soon enough, those motorcycles will sell like pancakes.

Adorkable Gong Yoo

The massive success of Coffee Prince put him on the pedestal as one of the most bankable actors. in Korea. His bashful smile sent fan girls around Asia sighing! I, included. 

After a three year hiatus from his mandatory military service, he's back! No, unfortunately not with a drama (I know, I hoped for one too) but with a romantic comedy movie up for release soon. In the movie, Finding Kim Jong Wook, Gong Yoo plays a character who operates a business tracking down first loves. A woman hires and takes him to India in search of Kim Jong Wook, the man who she can't get over with. Of course, they fall in love in the process as in every drama/movie. Predictable.

Hilariously quirky woman + aDORKable Gong Yoo + RomCom trumps the predictable plot! I cannot wait for its release. ;p

Not Another Korean Remake

Why oh why? Why a korean remake of It Started With A Kiss? I super loved that series. It's in my top favorites list!!! The list that contains dramas I occasionally watch over and over again. Why???

Haven't we learned from previous remakes? Highly commercialized, bad casting and bad acting? Okay. So Boys Over Flowers is an exception. We all know how phenomenal it was. The thing is, Lee Min Ho CAN ACT. Whereas Kim Hyun Joong (the lead actor of ISWAK korean version), as my best friend puts it, cannot act to save his life. Let's say he is a bit appropriate for the role. What with his poker face he constantly wears around and the air of indifference. But that's exactly the issue here. All he knows is the poker face act. His character in this drama is not all about poker face all the time. ISWAK fans will agree on this. Ugh. I just hate this. Another highly commercialized drama remake. I'd know. It comes from the same company behind Boys Over Flowers.

Then again, I'm pretty sure I'll watch the drama anyway... out of curiosity. My best friend and I hope we'll be pleasantly surprised instead getting sorely disappointed.

It's not a competition.. but I doubt this pair can at least deliver the onscreen appeal of Joe Cheng and Ariel Lin. Their team up worked wonders. No. It's not just about them, it's the whole cast. Why else would fans strongly demand 2nd season and.. a 3rd season.

I pray they casted the right people for each role. ISWAK had long, long episodes but it as far from a dragging drama. Each episode was super fun. It's not just Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng. As I've said, each character played by the cast came to life and became real which was the main reason why, fans like me, OVERREACT OVER A KOREAN REMAKE!

For the record, those were the worst pick up lines EVAR! But Taeyang sings it half-naked with a cool mohawk for more than a minute. Damn it! He's awesome!

This was a major overhaul from the first version. Dara, in fairness to her, looked convincingly glamorous. Yes, for once, not her usual loud ensemble. G-Dragon makes an appearance too, of course.

Although the video does not outdo his Wedding Dress, the more-than-a-minute feature of his demigod body compensated for everything. This is a definite hit to fans!

[MV] Taeyang - I NEED A GIRL

Ever since Wedding Dress happened, I am constantly looking out for this Korean hottie, Taeyang. His video struck a chord in my heart and I am forever mesmerized. Apart from Rain, this might be the one of the few Kpop idols I'll look out for. Others look disturbingly gay.

His new music video's out featuring Sandara Park aka Dara and G Dragon. How was it? Hmm, just a tad okay. Just a passing video. Not totally original and memorable. One thing's sure, this won't be in my 'i'll-watch-it-again-and-again' list.

But, don't listen to me. It's got Taeyang in it!!!

Violinist Plays Super Mario. Awesome!

90's kids will undoubtedly look back on days spent holding the joystick, eyes glued on TV and SUPER MARIO making its through obstacles. I am one of them. I was obsessed getting through the levels and got frustrated each and every time I bump 'accidentally' on those annoying turtles and were they, walking, ugly mushrooms?

My best friend shared this video via Facebook. A Japanese violinist playing Super Mario. He does the background music as Mario progresses through the obstacles.

These Japs, they never fail to amaze me. Whether it be their culture, their food, their wonderful place, their fashion style and out-of-this-world ideas that is distinctly Japanese.
