The Iligan Bloggers Society, Iligan's First!

Blogging started as an online outlet of my thoughts. At first, I only allowed access to my closest friends because I was shy of my writings, both its content, style and any grammatical deviations from the rule. Filipinos have this pleasure of picking mistakes and make it an inside joke. Until it grew readership. Strangers came visiting, made a couple of friends here and abroad and I somehow broke out from being shy with my posts. Mistakes help you grow. So, I figured, it is better to see progress than none at all.

I started seeing blog awards given by respective blogger societies nationwide. Almost all of the Filipino bloggers I know belong in a blog organization of their place. Judging by the pictures, it was a good way to mingle, meet and make new friends and connection in the area. You can share tips, do's and don'ts of the trade. I say trade because blogging has grown more than an online diary of your thoughts, interests and hobbies. It has become the bread and butter of some. It's no secret you earn part/full time money just from blogging. I wasn't as jealous before when I see bloggers in Manila enjoy access and cover events because of their unified orgs. Not until I read a post from Wella (CDO blogger), that they are having one. I got really jealous and wished, there is one in my city. I was glad there is now, JUST RECENTLY!

I am proud to announce Iligan City's first blogger organization, Iligan Bloggers Society (Can it ever be more obvious?)! I hurriedly registered on their new site and liked their Facebook page. I knew a couple of friends into blogging so I invited them as well. I was pleased to see the growing numbers albeit a small number compared to others but hey, the org is new. It will surely grow as others get the news.

As part of their launch, Iligan Bloggers Society holds a contests for artists and talented individuals. They're running a Craft A Logo Contest. The mechanics can be found here. But just to give you a start it obviously involves making an official logo for the group --a logo that will reflect and define the organization's vision, mission and goals. Three winners shall be picked with prizes! Go, check it out. Not a graphic designer, then you can make an entry about the contest and win these freebies below.
I'm not done, on May 19th, IBS holds its first MEET AND GREET at 5pm, Jacko's Kan-anan. The place is pretty easy to locate, its right across Tatay's Grill. Thanks for the generous sponsors who supported and made this event possible, Jacko's Kan-anan, Third Team Media, and DoanesGVonlineshoppe. No entrance fee. And FREE FOOD.

If you are by any chance a blogger who resides in Iligan City, visit their website and register! We'll see you on Thursday! And oh, it doesn't matter if you're an amateur in blogging, as long as you blog, you are welcome.

Nothing Beats Free Stuff! Tough Brat Fred is Home.

For months, I have been eyeing bags at Bratty Bonita and Tough Brat. No matter how badly I wanted one, it was beyond my current budget. A month ago, I was ecstatic to read their Blog a bag, Bag a bag promo! I immediately joined coz for one, nothing beats free stuff and second, their laptop bags all looked chic and durable.

Luckily, I won! My article was one of the four winning articles! I automatically reverted to my holidazed mode when I knew. I was super excited to receive the bag.

After half a month, Fred arrived at my doorstep yesterday while I was having my afternoon nap. When my mom woke me, I was dazed and irritated (I always am after waking up) but it all went out the window when I peered down our terrace at the delivery man. Fred's home! Needless to say, I ran down the stairs to welcome Fred.

Most products only look fab in pictures, but disappoint in person. My Tough Fred is an exception. The luxurious gray, the feel of the material, and the spacious compartments. It's a snug fit for my 14-inch Lenovo and has not only one but four additional pockets perfect for optical mouse and charger with plenty more space for other stuff I need say ipod, phone, and planner (yes, I try to organize my life).

With countless powerpoint presentations and looming deadline for our feasibility study, I constantly have to lug my laptop around. Tough Fred will be put to good use.

And so, I brought it to school. Needless to say, friends were envious! I would be too if I were them. I have this obsession on oversized bags especially sling totes these days that I can't help myself. I only have a handful of small bags.

I cannot wait to pair Fred with different ensembles and take it to places. It's large enough to tote around travels. More on that soon.

Thank you thank you to Tough Brat Bags and Bratty Bonita Bags for making this possible. Continue making good and quality products. To my readers, visit their sites. There are more of these where it came from. More designs to choose from. In fact, I am pretty sure you'll find it hard to decide which one to purchase. And both owners are nice, friendly and quick to respond on your messages.

BH 120 Palette, For Free!

My Mom's obsession's rubbing on me. At first, I grumble how long it takes for her to prep up in front of the mirror and how willingly she shells out more a thousand bucks for a four-palette eyeshadow set when she could buy way cheaper ones with the same color combinations. Now, that I do eyeshadows? I TOTALLY GET IT! Cheaper alternatives don't stay as long as a MAC does, don't let you achieve the color you want at one stroke, and don't give you the same ease in blending.

With my Mom's wide collection of makeup? I can't help but experiment with a lot of colors for my eyes. I learn through Youtube tutorials. I always see them girls using BH 120 Palette; a lot f colors in one package! Been eyeing it for a while now and urged my Mom to buy countless times but she won't listen coz she's loyal to Mac, L'oreal, Maybelline, Sephora, Smashbox, Clinique and Bobbi Brown. She trusts no other brands besides them.

Good thing there's this giveaway contest! Open internationally. Sweet! Visit her page and like me, take a chance on winning. You never know.

I hope I can get my hands on you..soon. If not, then.. Plan b still stands, ask money from Dad!
